Hair & Makeup Journey: From Music Videos to Fashion

2025.07.21

How did you get into the industry?
I started developing an interest in makeup in 2009, around the same time some of my friends began their music careers. It came naturally that I became their makeup artist.

What was your first freelance job?
My first freelance job was the music video for Seinabo Sey’s Younger.

Do you prefer working in a team or on your own?
I enjoy working with other makeup artists because it’s such a rare opportunity. It’s fun to see how others work, and I feel we often inspire each other.

What is the most common misconception people have about your profession?
That it isn’t really seen as a profession. Many people outside the industry think we only do makeup for private individuals, and they often don’t realize that makeup artists also create looks that aren’t meant to be “visible.”

Which part of the job do you think is the most underrated?
The preparation and follow-up work. Preparing your kit before a job, taking care of it afterward, and staying updated and inspired.

How did you first get in touch with KSTING?
A friend recommended that I reach out to you.

What has KSTING meant for your career so far?
Working with KSTING has given me the opportunity to work more within the fashion industry and collaborate with brands I hadn’t worked with before.

In your opinion, how does KSTING differ from traditional booking channels?
It’s so easy to work with KSTING, and it feels more like a collaboration than being tied down.
